The Book Group at Strang Communications has signed a book deal with New York Giants wide receiver and Super Bowl hero David Tyree.

The book, still to be titled, will be released Sept. 2. "I am thrilled about the opportunity to share the story behind the Super Bowl," said Tyree, the first Giants player to secure a publishing deal after the team's Super Bowl XLII victory. "It is important to me for people to understand who I am, where I came from and how God has moved in my life."

Tyree's fourth quarter catch-called by NFL Films President Steve Sabol "the greatest play in Super Bowl history"-helped propel the Giants to an upset 17-14 victory over the previously unbeaten New England Patriots in the championship game.

"There is no doubt that David's catch will forever be engraved in the minds of football fans," said Tessie DeVore, executive vice president of the Strang Book Group. "It was truly a miracle. But there is so much more to what we saw playing out on the field. This book will tell a true sports story for the ages."

Throughout the 2007 season, Tyree benefited from his relationship with "spiritual mom" Kim Daniels-founder of Spoken Word Ministries in Jacksonville, Fla., and an author for Charisma House, a Strang imprint. Daniels' son, Michael Jennings, also plays for the Giants. The imprint for Tyree's book has yet to be determined, Strang officials said.
