The newly renamed Spanish Christian Resource Association (formerly known as the Spanish Evangelical Publishers Association but still called SEPA) has named Casa Creación Publisher Tessie Güell DeVore as the group's first female president. The announcement came earlier this week at the conclusion of the group's annual membership breakfast at the Expolit convention in Miami. "I am honored and humbled to be elected to this position," DeVore, 38, said. "I'm very excited about the future of SEPA and the Spanish Christian industry." DeVore, a Cuban/Puerto Rican, is bilingual and comes to the position with a solid background in publishing. After working with Editorial Vida for four years, she joined Strang Communications near Orlando, Fla., in 1993 and became editor of Vida Cristiana, Strang's Spanish Christian magazine. In 1997, she worked with Strang President Stephen Strang to found Casa Creación. DeVore also heads the Strang International Group, where she oversees export sales and foreign licensing of Strang products in all languages. In 2002, PR Newswire named her one of the Top 100 Hispanic Journalists and Media Personalities in the United States.
