Scripture-sharing initiatives have continued to drive Bible sales, according to the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association's (ECPA) latest best-seller list.

The trade association's Top Bibles chart for September, just released, is led by Tyndale House Publishers' Operation Worship Bible (NLT), the focus of a partnership with CBA stores to see thousands of copies donated to U.S. military personnel overseas.

The $4.99 giveaway edition is followed by Crossway Books and Bibles' $1.99 ESV Outreach New Testament.

On the book list, William P. Young's runaway best-seller The Shack (Windblown Media/Hachette Book Group USA) continues to hold the top spot, followed by Standard Publishing's new KJV Standard Lesson Commentary and Kevin Leman's Have a New Kid By Friday (Revell/Baker Publishing Group).

The other top leading Bibles this month are. 3. Text Bible-NKJV (Thomas Nelson); 4. Adventure Bible (NIV), hardcover (Zonderkidz); 5. NiRV Adventure Bible for Early Readers, hardcover (Zondervan); 6. Teen Study Bible (NIV), hardcover (Zondervan); 7. NKJV Study Bible, hardcover (Thomas Nelson); 8. Adventure Bible (NIV), hardcover (Zondervan); 9. Thinline Bible (NIV), burgundy bonded leather (Zondervan); and 10. Gift and Award Bible (KJV) black leatherflex (Thomas Nelson).

The rest of the Top 10 books list is: 4. 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper, with Cecil Murphey (Revell/Baker Publishing Group); 5. The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman (Northfield Publishing/Moody Publishers); 6. Love & Respect by Emmerson Eggerichs (Thomas Nelson); 7. 3:16 by Max Lucado (Thomas Nelson); 8. Jesus Calling by Sarah Young (Thomas Nelson); 9. A Sister's Hope by Wanda E. Brunstetter (Barbour Publishing); and 10. Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy, with Nathan Whitaker (Tyndale House Publishers).

The ECPA lists are drawn from Christian retail stores across the country, through its PubTrack Christian data system. Book lists are based on trade discounted titles selling in at least 20% of reporting stores. Tracts and booklets are excluded.
