Tim LaHaye, best-selling co-author of the "Left Behind" series and author of a number of biblical prophecy books, has signed with David C. Cook to publish his new nonfiction book tentatively titled Why This Fixation on Jesus?

"LaHaye is recognized as the author who taught the world to hope for the return of Jesus. This is his tribute to Jesus Himself," said Don Pape, David C. Cook trade book publisher. "I'm delighted that we at David C. Cook intend to leverage our global reach and church-equipping mind-set to get this message out to serious disciples and curious seekers alike."

Why This Fixation on Jesus? is scheduled to release in August 2009 and addresses the influence of Jesus on the world.

"It is incredible to me that over 2,000 years after His execution as a common criminal, the world is still fixated on the 30-year-old carpenter from the obscure town of Nazareth, who hung up his tools to become an itinerant preacher. There has to be a reason", LaHaye said. "This book will show how and why His influence has been so strong."
