The largest provider of religious apparel in the country, Murphy Cap & Gown Co., has been acquired by Herff Jones, the leading manufacturer and publisher of educational products, recognition awards and graduation-related items for the school market in North America.

With approximately 200 employees, St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Murphy Cap & Gown has been in business for 95 years and will operate as a subsidiary of the Herff Jones Cap & Gown Division, company officials said.

Murphy will remain in St. Petersburg. Principal owners Don and Ruth Campagna will work closely with Herff Jones Cap & Gown management team.
