Religious Book sales continued to grow strongly in 2007, according to the Book Industry Trends 2008, a comprehensive view of U.S. book publishing dollar and unit sales.

The religion segment increased 5.6% from 2007 to 2008 after rising 6.3% from 2006 to 2007. With an increase of 6.3% in net revenue, the category rose $2.7 million in 2008 from $2.5 million in 2007.

Released by the Book Industry Study Group, the Book Industry Trends 2008 estimates that total publishers' net revenues in 2007 reached $37.2 billion, up 4.4% over 2006's figures and unit sales in 2007 exceeded 3.12 billion. The full report will be available mid-month.
