Casa Creación again continued its dominance of the Spanish Evangelical Products Association (SEPA) Awards last night at the 16th annual Expolit convention in Miami, capturing seven awards-including three of the six major trophies-during the event. Last year, Casa Creación also captured most of the major SEPA Awards. Amor y respeto, the Spanish translation of Emerson Eggerichs' Love & Respect (published by Thomas Nelson Publishers in 2004) won the "Harold Kregel 2007 Book of the Year" award for "most inspiring and impactful book." La mujer de sus sueños (The woman of his dreams) by Nolita W. de Theo, also published by Casa Creación, was honored as the "Best Original Spanish Work of 2007," the sixth consecutive year that the Strang Communications' Spanish imprint has won the category. In addition, Casa Creación was named "Publisher of the Year" for the third time for its third major SEPA Award. Major awards also went to Producciones Peniel in Argentina for "Distributor of the Year" while the award for "Contribution to the Music Industry" went to Marco Barrientos, whose music is distributed by Casa Creación under the Aliento Producciones label. Editorial Unilit won nine awards-including top-selling book of 2007, a pocket-sized version of Josh McDowell's Más que un carpintero (More Than a Carpenter)-as well as the top-selling reference book and gift book. Editorial Vida won seven awards, including best catalog, and top-selling reference and fiction books. Casa Creación also won awards for best ad and book cover along with Gold and Platinum Awards for lifetime sales of Joyce Meyer's Controlando sus emociones (Managing Your Emotions, FaithWords) and Joel Osteen's Su mejor vida ahora (Your Best Life Now, FaithWords), respectively. Other companies winning Gold and Platinum Awards included B&H Publishing Group, American Bible Society, Sociedades Bíblicas Unidas and Ayagénesis. "The Casa Creación team continues to excel and continues to impress through their creativity and their dedication to Spanish Christian publishing," said Tessie DeVore, president of SEPA and executive vice president of the Strang Book Group. Author and radio commentator Chuck Colson, keynote speaker at the awards evening, spoke about his experience with Prison Fellowship and ministering to prisoners around the world.
Each of the 1,000 awards ceremony attendees received a copy of La Fe, the Spanish version published by Editorial Vida of Colson's latest book, The Faith |
