EPA conference features Donald Miller, workshops, awards |

Approximately 300 editors, writers and publicists gathered for the annual Evangelical Press Association (EPA) convention in Portland, Oregon, last week. The three-day conference offered 42 workshops and featured keynote speakers Donald Miller, best-selling author of Blue Like Jazz (Thomas Nelson Publishers), and evangelist Luis Palau. Musical guests included Paul Baloche (author of "Open the Eyes of My Heart") and singer-songwriter Scott Krippayne. The EPA also presented its annual "Awards of Excellence" in Christian publishing. Christianity Today took the award in the General category. Enrichment Journal won for Christian Ministries, and byFaith was named best Denominational publication. YouthWalk took the award in the Devotional category, and World Vision for Missionary publications. Best Newsletter went to The Voice of the Martyrs; and The Manna won for Newspapers. Women of the Harvest Online Magazine was named the top Online publication, and in the Organizational category, WHEATON took the award. Ignite Your Faith won for Youth, and Baptist Messenger was named Most Improved Publication. Christian Retailing took third place in the Editorial category for "Consuming Questions and the 'Shopocalypse,'" by Andy Butcher, and third place in the Interview article category for "So Much Product Is Very Baby Boomer: An Interview With Ken Peterson," also by Andy Butcher.
