Nominees for the ninth annual Christy Awards have been announced. The awards for excellence in Christian fiction will go to winners in nine categories: Contemporary (Stand-alone), Contemporary (Series, Sequels and Novellas), Historical, Romance, Suspense, Lits (light in tone novels), Visionary, Young Adult and First Novel.

The nominees in the Contemporary (Stand-alone) category are Chasing Fireflies by Charles Martin (Thomas Nelson), In High Places by Tom Morrisey (Bethany House Publishers) and Quaker Summer by Lisa Samson (Thomas Nelson).

The nominees in the Contemporary (Series, Sequels and Novellas) category are Home to Holly Springs by Jan Karon (Viking Penguin), A Time to Mend by Sally John and Gary Smalley (Thomas Nelson) and What Lies Within by Karen Ball (WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group).

For the Historical category, the nominees are Lady of Milkweed Manor by Julie Klassen (Bethany House Publishers), A Proper Pursuit by Lynn Austin (Bethany House Publishers) and A Tendering in the Storm by Jane Kirkpatrick (WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group).

The nominees in the Romance category are Lightning and Lace by DiAnn Mills (Barbour Publishing), Remember to Forget by Deborah Raney (Howard Books) and Remembered by Tamera Alexander (Bethany House Publishers).

For the Lits category, the four nominees, due to a tie, are Doesn't She Look Natural? by Angela Hunt (Tyndale House Publishers), Hallie's Heart by Shelly Beach (Kregel Publications), Let Them Eat Cake by Sandra Byrd (WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group) and The Trophy Wives Club by Kristin Billerbeck (Avon Inspire).

The finalists in the Suspense category are The Cure by Athol Dickson (Bethany House Publishers), My Hands Came Away Red by Lisa McKay (Moody Publishers) and The Pawn by Steven James (Revell).

Hollywood Nobody by Lisa Samson, In Between by Jenny B. Jones and Maggie Come Lately by Michelle Buckman (all by NavPress) are the nominees in the Young Adult category.

The nominees in the Visionary category are Auralia's Colors by Jeffrey Overstreet (WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group), The Restorer by Sharon Hinck (NavPress) and Scarlet by Stephen R. Lawhead (Thomas Nelson).

For the First Novel category, the nominees are Auralia's Colors by Jeffrey Overstreet (WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group), Demon: A Memoir by Tosca Lee (NavPress) and The Stones Cry Out by Sibella Giorello (Revell).
