Longtime independent Christian retailer Sherri Litza has decided to close New Covenant Christian Supply in LaPorte, Ind., after 21 years due to declining customer base, bills and other overhead expenses. "The Lord led us in, and the Lord is leading us out," Litza told The La Porte County Herald-Argus. Litza plans to close the bookstore Dec. 22, but she doesn't think it will stay open that long because so many people are buying items. "We already have a third of our store gone," she told the newspaper. Customers were surprised to see the store is closing. "I was shocked," said Jo Frank, the Herald-Argus reported. "I guess I always thought it would be around." Since announcing the closing, Litza has entertained several offers. She expects to work as a consultant for Christian bookstores, the Herald-Argus reported. Litza helped at the prospective retailers workshop during CBA Advance 2007 last January and led workshops on selling Bibles at the International Christian Retail Show this year and in 2006.
