A "musical tract" sold at cost through LifeWay Christian Stores has impacted many lives, according to Thom Rainer, president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources (LCR), the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) division that runs the 131-location chain.

Narrated by Rick Warren, author of The Purpose-Driven Life (Zondervan), The Invitation was released last year as a "biblical and musical mosaic" featuring songs by artists including Casting Crowns, Pocket Full of Rocks and Amy Grant. It was offered for sale for $1.

Reporting on LCR work to the SBC annual meeting in San Antonio last week, Rainer said that selling the CD at cost to make it as widely available as possible had not been the best business decision but had been a great ministry one, reported Baptist Press (BP).

"Our reward came as tens of thousands of the CDs began to get in the hands of lost people," Rainer said, BP reported. "And our reward came when we heard countless testimonies of lives saved by the grace of our Lord, where the CD was used as His instrument."
