International Bible Society-Send The Light (IBS-STL) has sent scriptural resources to help Virginia Tech victims, families and the community deal with grief and healing from last week's tragedy in Blacksburg, Va. John Uffelmann, a Virginia Tech alumnus and resident of Colorado Springs, Colo., headquarters of IBS-STL, loaded his van last week with the materials to personally deliver them to Christian groups ministering on campus, according to IBS-STL officials. IBS-STL sent 1,600 copies of its 30-day devotional When Your Whole World Changes, a step-by-step series of scriptures to help people process through stages of trauma. Other booklets that Uffelmann will deliver to campus ministries include Deeper Still, Where the River Flows and Beside Quiet Waters as well as Finding God NIV New Testaments.
“This kind of tragedy has long-term effects,” said Sues Hyde, one of IBS-STL directors of outreach. “In the midst of crisis, many people face a spiritual crisis as well. We address this in our resources to help people through the grieving process, and ultimately to a place of forgiveness so emotional and spiritual healing can take place.”
