'Odyssey' voice-over artist dies Print Email

Voice-over artist Walker Edmiston, who worked for 19 years on the Focus on the Family radio program “Adventures in Odyssey,” died of complications from cancer Feb. 15 at his Los Angeles home, the Los Angeles Times said. He was 81.

Focus on the Family premiered a special edition of “The Official Adventures in Odyssey Podcast” March 21 in recognition of Edmiston's work on the program. The podcast called “Celebrating the Life of Walker Edmiston” includes stories and reactions from fellow cast members as well as producers of the show.

Edmiston played the voices of Tom Riley and Bart Rathbone, but he also voiced various character roles when needed. Edmiston is also known as the voice of Ernie the Keebler Elf in commercials for the cookie products of Kellogg's, the Times reported.

As an actor, Edmiston also appeared frequently in episodes of shows such as Gunsmoke, The Big Valley, Mission: Impossible, Batman, The Dukes of Hazzard and Knots Landing.
