Tyndale House Publishers has acquired North American broadcast, DVD and ancillary product rights for Friends and Heroes, a new global children's products brand, company officials announced.

Friends and Heroes seeks to bring the Bible to life for children ages 6 to 10. The production of a series of 13, 30-minute animated stories from the Old and New Testament was recently completed. The Friends and Heroes program premiered on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) and Smile of a Child children's network on Jan. 6.

“We are thrilled to partner with Tyndale to bring Friends and Heroes to our TBN children viewers because the program mixes an adventurous and exciting storyline with captivating technology to tell Bible stories in a way that will keep kids on the edge of their seats and wanting more,” Paul Crouch Jr., TBN's vice president of administration, said.

Featuring 3-D animation, Friends and Heroes tells the tale of two young people in the first century, Macky and Portia, whose idealism and friendship leads them to adventure and danger in the fabled Egyptian port of Alexandria.

The first two Friends and Heroes DVD-ROM products, which will have a suggested retail price of $14.99, with an introductory release price of $12.97, will be released in March. Each DVD-ROM will include curriculum materials featuring the New Living Translation of the Bible, developed by Group Publishing. Group will also distribute Friends and Heroes through its direct-to-church division.
