A business plan for a Christian bookstore has won the $25,000 first place prize in a competition run by a church-based business group.

Shaundra Keith's proposal for her Eden Christian Bookstore was selected from the finalists for the Business Plan Competition award offered by the Bronner Business Institute (BBI), part of the Nathaniel H. Bronner Sr. Center (NHBC) at Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral in Austell, Ga.

The only Christian bookstore among the final proposals-which ranged from healthcare to technology-Eden Christian Bookstore's plan includes open lounges, private meeting spaces and a café.

Keith's proposal was chosen by a judging panel of academicians, venture capitalists, lawyers, accounting and human resource professionals, entrepreneurs and bankers. The competition, launched this year, attracted 36 entries from across the country.

Founded in 2001, the BBI is a nonprofit organization with 1,000-plus members that provides networking classes, forums and technical help for new and existing businesses “marked by integrity, faith and a commitment to building the kingdom of God.”
