The American Christian Fiction Writers' (ACFW) Book of the Year Awards saw WestBow's Colleen Coble take the top award, Overall Book of the Year, with Distant Echoes. The book was also named Suspense Book of the Year in the awards, presented last month in Dallas. In addition, Coble, also known as Colleen Rhoads, won the Short Contemporary Book of the Year for Shadow Bones, published by Steeple Hill in its “Love Inspired Suspense” line.

Barbour Publishing author Pamela Griffin took home two awards: Contemporary Novella of the Year for Strawberry Angel and Historical Novella of the Year for Legend of Mercy.

Other winners were: Daughter of Prophecy by Miles Owens (Realms/Strang Communications) for General Fiction Book of the Year; With This Ring, I'm Confused by Kristin Billerbeck (WestBow Press) for Lits Book of the Year (including chick lit, mom lit, and more); Dawn of a Thousand Nights by Tricia Goyer (Moody Publishers) for Long Historical Book of the Year; and Beside Still Waters by Tracey V. Bateman (Barbour Publishing) for Short Historical Book of the Year; and The Winds of Sonoma by Nikki Arana (Revell) for Women's Fiction Book of the Year.

In the Genesis Contest, ACFW members not published in fiction in the last seven years were eligible. Marian Merritt was named the FaithWords Overall Winner with Legacy of Grace, which also topped the Women's Fiction category. Authors were presented with awards in seven Genesis categories, aside from the Overall award.

ACFW authors nominate themselves to enter both competitions. Formerly known as American Christian Romance Writers, ACFW has more than 1,000 members.
