The International Bible Society and Send the Light announced plans yesterday to collaborate efforts to publish and distribute the Bible. As the largest Bible publisher and the largest Christian distributor in the world, respectively, the nonprofit groups have a common mission of distributing God's Word throughout the world.

Each organization has appointed representatives to form a joint taskforce to review the areas of compatibility and common interest and to develop recommendations by the end of the year.

The International Bible Society and Send the Light have offices and distribution centers in similar regions of the world, and have worked together before, particularly in Africa and Asia recently, according to Keith Danby, Send the Light's group chief executive. They believe that combining resources will allow them to be more efficient and will further advance the spreading of God's Word.
