The film adaptation of Tommy Tenney's story about Queen Esther is set to release Oct. 13 in more than 1,000 theaters, and has been endorsed by the American Bible Society (ABS).

One Night With the King was produced by Gener8xion Entertainment, and stars Tiffany Dupont, Luke Goss, James Callis, Tommy “Tiny” Lister, John Noble, Peter O'Toole, John Rhys-Davies and Omar Sharif. Gener8xion Entertainment Chairman and CEO/Producer Matthew Crouch said The film has “beautiful staging … (and) an unbeatable story line … but (it contains) also the tried-and-true, value-based ideals that we see a hunger for among consumers.”

The ABS has endorsed One Night With the King as being based on the biblical book of Esther “in the belief that value-based Hollywood epic-style films can capture the hearts, minds and market share of today's generation,” the organization said in a statement.

Bethany House Publishers released a special mass-market edition of the novel, Hadassah: One Night With the King by Tenney, in February that included color photos from the movie. The movie will release on DVD in March 2007 through Fox.
