Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has announced the launch of Wal-Mart Soundcheck, a new, original in-store and online music-performance series that will feature Switchfoot in its inaugural release. Switchfoot, which is featured alongside mainstream band Yellowcard, contributed a five-song set highlighting tracks off its multi-platinum Nothing Is Sound album, for the new series. Wal-Mart Soundcheck has been introduced to “give customers an insider's look at popular musicians performing four to six songs in an intimate studio setting, as well as exclusive, in-depth interviews with the artists,” the company said in a statement. The performances will be featured nationwide every month in stores with two-minute sneak previews in Wal-Mart's electronics department, and also available for viewing and download at Walmart.com.
Performances on Wal-Mart Soundcheck are co-sponsored through a media partnership with Gillette Fusion razors and are set to tape at various recording studios throughout the year.
