The animated Little Red Riding Hood film Hoodwinked earned the No. 1 spot at the box office for Saturday, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. The film was co-directed and written by brothers Cory Edwards—who is a Christian stand-up comedian and former host of Reasons to Believe with Hugh Ross—and Todd Edwards, and Tony Leech, who co-starred in the Petra Beyond Belief video (1990).

Starring Glenn Close, Anne Hathaway, Patrick Warburton, James Belushi, Benjy Gaither-son of Bill & Gloria Gaither-and Andy Dick, the film earned $12.2 million total for Friday/Saturday. Due to the holiday weekend, Sunday and Monday estimates are due to be released tomorrow, with the full weekend's take, according to the Web site.

Hoodwinked made $5.58 million on Saturday alone, followed by Last Holiday, Glory Road, The Chronicles of Narnia and Hostel.
