Linda Fuller, co-founder of Habitat for Humanity International, is one of the country's 20 leading volunteers to be honored Friday in Washington, D.C. Fuller is co-author of Woman to Woman Wisdom (Nelson Books), with Bettie Youngs and Donna Schuller. Along with Helen Keller, Martin Luther King Jr. and Booker T. Washington, Fuller will be honored on a new monument, The Extra Mile-Points of Light Volunteer Pathway. The mile-long Pathway is located near the White House, the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol. A short walk will separate the Extra Mile from prominent landmarks. Fuller and her husband, Millard, recently co-founded The Fuller Center for Housing with the purpose of raising funds and support for Habitat affiliates and other nonprofit, low-cost housing groups.
Jonathan Merkh, senior vice president and publisher for Nelson Books, said the company “is honored to have Linda as a part of the Nelson Books team. We knew she was a special person when we were able to sign her on as an author. She played such a crucial role for Habitat and will do the same for the Fuller Center for Housing. We wish her a warm congratulations for her outstanding achievement.”
