Jim Russell, founder of Amy Foundation, dies at age 80 Print Email

Jim Russell, president and founder of The Amy Foundation in Lansing, Mich., died Aug. 31 at age 80.

The foundation is known primarily for its sponsorship of the Amy Writing Awards, the “Discipled Nation Plan Workbook” series, published by the organization, and the Church Writing Group Ministry. Russell's first book, Awakening the Giant, was published by Zondervan in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, five children, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Sept. 3 in Lansing.
