The International Christian Book Database (ICBD) is doubling its efforts to help people find Christian books in many languages by developing a resource that allows authors and publishers to link directly to an author's books. This will enable authors to refer people interested in their books directly to the local publisher within the country where the requested language is read and spoken. The database is sponsored by Global Publishers Alliance (GPA), the nonprofit arm of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. It enables users to determine in which languages a book is available and where to purchase the title overseas or online. The database is accessible through the Network for Strategic Missions (wwwstrategicnetwork.org), a Web site that provides resources to missionaries around the world. Many Christian authors and their publishers are partnering with the ICBD-authors include Bruce Wilkinson, John Piper, Os Guinness, Gary Chapman, James Dobson, Max Lucado, Brennan Manning and Andy Stanley. GPA sees this new platform as serving international publishers in promoting both their licensed and indigenously developed Christian materials.
"It is great to have data, but that is only the foundation," said John Eames, president and CEO of GPA. "Our desire is to create powerful tools that will help Christians around the world leverage this data to help find the best resources for themselves, their churches and their communities."
