W Publishing Group author and motivational speaker Barbara Johnson will receive the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association's (ECPA) Lifetime Achievement Award at the Gold Medallion and CBA Retailer Impact Award Celebration July 11. Johnson is well known for writing inspirational books with quirky titles such as Plant a Geranium in Your Cranium and Living Somewhere Between Estrogen and Death. ECPA President Mark Kuyper announced today he will present the award to Johnson for her contributions to the Christian bookselling industry. “Barbara's ministry to the brokenhearted through her publishing and personal appearances has inspired millions since 1979,” he said. David Moberg, senior vice president and publisher of W Publishing Group, remarked of Johnson: “She is an eternal energizer in spirit and in the joy of the Lord. ... Her life has been dedicated solely to encouraging others.”
Johnson was one of the original four speakers of the Women of Faith conferences that began in 1996, traveling until 2001, when doctors discovered a malignant brain tumor. Since the diagnosis, Johnson has written three more best-sellers.
