Christian Publications and Destiny Image have launched the Alliance for Inventory Resource Management (AFIRM), a consignment-based distribution program intended to boost vendor sales and enable retailers to compete more aggressively against big-box and Internet-based retailers. The program, which was unveiled at CBA International this summer, provides books, Bibles, gifts, videos, music and software on a consignment basis from more than 20 vendors. More than 360 stores have signed on to the program. "Through AFIRM's initial shipment, I expect to increase my inventory by 25% to 30%" said Gwen Kahler, owner of Pennsylvania-based Rock of Ages Book Shoppe. "All products from various vendors come from one warehouse and I have only one account to track. I praise God for this out-of-the-ordinary approach to inventory issues for retailers."
A full story about AFIRM will appear in the Jan. 24 issue of Christian Retailing.
