ItsAMeaningfulLifeVTDVDBig Idea’s latest parody parable re-imagines the classic It’s a Wonderful Life, with Larry the Cucumber wondering what might have happened if injury had not prevented him from playing in the big Salad Bowl football game. VeggieTales’ It’s a Meaningful Life releases Oct. 2 and features a new song by Steven Curtis Chapman, “Meant To Be.” The 50-minute video retails for $14.99.

 

VeggieTales creator Phil Vischer debuts the fourth installment in his “What’s in the Bible?” series this month with Battle for the Promised Land. It explores the books of Joshua, Judges and Ruth. Distributed by Tyndale House Publishers, the episode retails for $14.99.

 

ClassicsDVD The 90-minute Discovering Christian Classics: 5 Sessions in the Ancient Faith of Our Future, released last month from Paraclete Press, sees Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove and Lauren Winner discussing five historic, spiritual works, including The Imitation of Christ. Retail price, $59.99.

 

Filmed in the Galapagos Islands, The Mysterious Islands questions whether Charles Darwin was right to develop his theory of evolution from visiting the area or whether it is, as the subtitle declares, “A Testimony to God’s Hand in Creation.” Distributed by Provident-Integrity Distribution, the DVD released in late August and retails for $19.99.

 

Based on a true story, Homeless for the Holidays follows a family that discovers the real meaning of Christmas when Jack Baker loses his job. Distributed by Bridgestone Multimedia Group, the just-released 105-minute drama retails for $22.95.

 

Available for the first time on DVD, to mark its 50th anniversary, Hand in Hand is distributed by Provident Films starting this month. A Golden Globe winner, the story of a Catholic boy and a Jewish girl who become fast friends despite the prejudice that surrounds them runs 78 minutes. Retail price, $14.99.
