BakerBookHouse-bookscashwrap-webBookstore sales increased by 3.9 percent this June, relative to June 2014, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s preliminary sales estimates. Bookstores posted $698 million worth of sales during June, a $26 million increase on June 2014 sales.

Bookstores have also seen better sales during the first half of 2015 than they did last year. In 2014, the first six months represented $4.88 billion in sales; in 2015, bookstores have accrued $4.89 billion.

Retail as a whole has been similarly outperforming last year. Overall sales are up 2 percent in the first half of 2015 compared to the same time period in 2014.
