South Africa-based Christian Art Distributors has acquired Struik Christian Media from New Holland Publishing, effective today, July 29. Terms of the agreement were not released.

"We regard this acquisition as a wonderful opportunity to expand our goal to minister widely to the spiritual needs of people and change lives through Bibles and literature consistent with biblical principles," said Chris Johnsen, founder and managing director of Christian Art Distributors. "Struik Christian Media is a reputable company that shares the same core values and corporate goals as Christian Art Distributors."

Johnsen's son, Emile Johnsen, has been appointed as executive director of Struik.

Christian Art Distributors will keep the business operating as a stand-alone publishing house and distribution division, while retaining the name Struik Christian Media. All staff members employed by Struik will remain in their current capacities, ensuring that all business will continue uninterrupted, company officials said.

Struik will continue to represent Thomas Nelson, Charisma Media, Destiny Image, FaithWords and other U.S. publishing houses in South Africa.

Christian Art Distributors is the parent company of Lombard, Ill.-based Christian Art Gifts.
