Letters to God--inspired by a true story--was released this week on DVD by Possibility Pictures and Vivendi Entertainment, and distributed to Christian retail by EMI CMG Distribution.

Rated PG-13 for thematic material, the inspirational drama is about 8-year-old brain-cancer patient Tyler (Tanner McGuire of House, M.D.; Lost), who writes daily letters to God to help him cope in his fight against cancer.

The film--which had a budget of $3.5 million and was directed by David Nixon, one of the producers of Facing the Giants and Fireproof--received mixed reviews when it hit theaters in April and grossed $2.8 million at the box office, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.

Related products released in conjunction with the movie include Hope Is Contagious boxed cards from DaySpring; God's Got My Back tees, hoodies and water bottles from Hope Apparel; Letters to God: A Novel by the movie's co-director Patrick Doughtie and John Perry, from Zondervan; and Letters to God Bible from Robert Wolgemuth, general editor, also from Zondervan.

Released on DVD Aug. 10, Letters to God--with bonus features, including on-set devotionals, behind the scenes and bloopers--retails for $24.95.
