David C. Cook has announced a partnership with Integrity Music, HearItFirst.com and Gibson/Epiphone Guitars for the "Hear It First, Read It First" campaign, which will promote two of the publishers forthcoming summer releases.

Targeting worship leaders and teams as well as church leaders, the contest and promotion also seeks to appeal to the audience of two popular singers/authors, Glenn Packiam and Brian Doerksen. One of the founding leaders and songwriters for the Desperation Band, Packiam wrote Secondhand Jesus: Trading Rumors of God for a Firsthand Faith, set for release in June. An award-winning songwriter, Doerksen wrote Make Love, Make War: NOW is the Time to Worship, scheduled for release in August.

The promotion will begin May 15 with the first phase running June through July promoting Secondhand Jesus, Cook officials said. The second phase will run August through September, promoting Make Love, Make War.

"With books releasing from two top Integrity Music worship leaders, the idea immediately inspired us to develop the campaign," said Douglas Mann, senior director of marketing for David C. Cook. "Not only are Brian and Glenn both great songwriters, but they're also gifted authors, so we're extremely excited to support them in a creative comprehensive campaign, which joins both the music and book industries."
