StanJantz-webThe Gospel Light board of directors has appointed Stan Jantz as interim CEO, effective Jan. 13.

Jantz is a Christian book industry veteran whose 40-year professional career includes several phases: owning and operating one of the nation’s leading Christian retail stores; co-writing more than 50 Christian nonfiction books with sales of more than 3.5 million copies worldwide; and founding the digital publishing and content platform ConversantLife.com. Since 2011, Jantz has served as the publishing director for Regal Books, a division of Gospel Light.

Jim Hoover to retire from InterVarsity Press Print Email

JimHoover-webAfter more than 35 years in the editorial department at InterVarsity Press (IVP), Jim Hoover will be laying down his editorial pen Dec. 31.

“I could try to measure the contribution Jim has made in number of books edited or pages published in his more than 35years with IVP, but that would be wholly inadequate,” said Andy Le Peau, associate publisher for editorial at InterVarsity Press. “He has been a workhorse, but much more. He has been our sheet anchor of wisdom as we have faced innumerable decisions and quandaries over the years.”

NavPress welcomes Don Pape as publisher Print Email

DonPapeCropped-webDon Pape will join NavPress as publisher Jan. 6. In his new role, Pape will lead the publishing team acquiring and developing new NavPress resources that will be brought to market by the company’s alliance partner, Tyndale House Publishers. Pape has served as vice president of trade books and multimedia at David C Cook for the past seven years.

“We are celebrating the addition of Don Pape to the Navigator family,” said Doug Nuenke, U.S. director of The Navigators. “We are excited for this next season with NavPress and increasing its important role in fulfilling our calling here in the U.S. and around the world.”

Kelly McIntosh promoted to Barbour’s vice president of editorial Print Email

McIntosh is a veteran of Barbour’s editorial department, previously serving as editorial director. With this promotion, she will continue to oversee the editorial department, but also will be working closely with the executive team.

ScottGodseyMusic executive Scott Godsey is joining Daywind Records as its vice president encompassing A&R responsibilities, ushering in a new season for the label. In its 26-year history, Daywind has only had two A&R directors.

In his new role, Godsey will give creative direction to Daywind’s artists, seek out the next generation of Southern gospel music ministries and develop audio, video, digital, merchandising and live experience ventures to bring the label’s artists in closer relationship with their expanding audience.

WoodleyAndDebbie-webChristian publishing industry veterans Woodley Auguste and Debbie Marrie have been named vice president of marketing and vice president of product development, respectively, for Charisma Media’s Book Group, Charisma House, effective Dec. 1.   

As vice president of marketing, Auguste will provide marketing and publicity strategy leadership and spearhead new marketing projects for Charisma House’s five core imprints within the print and digital space.

Longtime Propeller Executive Vice President and COO Bob Elder will replace company co-founder and CEO Dan Merrell as president, effective immediately. Merrell will retain his title as CEO and continue to serve on the board. In addition, company veteran Andy Peterson has been named its new senior vice president and creative director.
