Abbey Press reported major sales growth in 2012, an increase of 32% of “shipped sales” over 2011. The company’s fiscal year starts July 1.

From its base in St. Meinrad, Ind., the company is experiencing “renewed vigor and vision,” said Lisa Engelhardt, editorial director.

“We have a new general manager as of last July, Greg Tate,” Engelhardt said. “He’s just a wonderful person and a great leader, and I think there’s just kind of a heightened sense of our purpose in the marketplace and what we’re doing and how important our mission and ministry is.”

With a wide variety of products, from stationery to dimensional giftware, Abbey brings to market a number of themes as well, memorial and Irish among them. One of the company’s recently launched lines is “Color Me Blessed,” a line of sacrament gifts for children being baptized, receiving their First Communion or making their confirmation. The collection includes a wall cross with scripture for each sacrament along with a coordinating word accent piece designed in trendy colors.

“Abbey Press is all about meaningful messages and inspired design. And that’s what we always have been doing, that’s our core, that’s our brand and that’s what we hope to bring to the Christian marketplace.”
