JerryBJenkins-webAuthors of all genres are invited to a free boot camp with publishing veterans and best-selling authors at the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in Atlanta on Sunday afternoon, June 22. Author Boot Camp, sponsored by Christian Writers Guild/BelieversPress, will provide a crash course in book promotion, equipping writers with techniques to increase book sales and raise their profile in a crowded marketplace.

Writers workshop leader and best-selling author Angela Hunt will provide the keynote address (8 a.m –9 a.m.). Hunt has written over 130 books with sales topping 4 million units. In 2007, her novel The Note was featured as a Christmas movie on the Hallmark Channel. The Christy Award winner was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Romantic Times Book Club in 2006.

Author Boot Camp will be hosted by Suzanne Kuhn of SuzyQ, an author promotion and retail development firm. Kuhn also will lead the track for published authors (9 a.m.–12:30 p.m.). Participants will learn about retailer relations, book sales, effective use of social media and creative reader-engagement promotions and events. Bringing more than 20 years of experience in book retailing and promotion, Kuhn will provide strategies to give authors the edge in getting their books the attention they deserve.

Best-selling “Left Behind” series author Jerry B. Jenkins, with publishing veteran Dave Sheets, will provide invaluable writing and publishing strategies in the Aspiring Authors track (9 a.m.–12:30 p.m.). Jenkins has written more than 180 books and sold more than 70 million copies. Twenty of his books have landed on the New York Times best-seller lists.

Sheets is president of Christian Writers Guild and BelieversPress. He has more than 17 years of experience in publishing leadership at top Christian publishing companies, and in self-publishing and print on demand. Jenkins and Sheets co-owns Christian Writers Guild (CWG) and the independent publishing company BelieversPress.

The authors-only event will take place Sunday, June 22, from 8 a.m.–12:30 p.m. in the Georgia World Congress Center, Hall C, Rooms 208, 209 and 210. Registration is free, but a ticket is required. Writers wanting to attend can register online at christianretailshow.com/?cbaonline.
