Family Christian Stores has named former pastor Francis Chan's first book, Crazy Love, its Book of the Year.

Calling for radical devotion to Jesus, the book has sold more than a million copies and topped Christian market best-seller charts since it was released by David C. Cook in May 2008. "We chose Crazy Love as Book of the Year amidst so many worthy titles because we believe this book has a message we want every single one of our customers to have the chance to read," said Tim Way, senior buyer at Family Christian Stores. "Chan's unabashed message is life-changing."

Beginning in January, Crazy Love will be featured in all the chain's catalogs throughout 2011, and will receive front placement in stores all year long. The book is available in trade paper along with a follow-up companion study guide and DVD, also published by David C. Cook.

Besides Crazy Love, Chan's second book with Cook—Forgotten God—has been a fixture on the Christian market best-seller charts for months, and the two DVDs of the "Basic" film series released in conjunction with the titles have also sold well.

Chan has embodied the message of Crazy Love by donating all royalties from the book as well as all of his products to charity since its initial release, Cook officials said. Founding pastor of Cornerstone Church in Simi Valley, Calif., which started in 1994, Chan left the congregation in May to work directly with the poor locally and internationally.
