New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury will host a live online event next month to launch her newest book in an effort to raise awareness and bring support to the issue of autism.

Unlocked: A Love Story is slated for release by Zondervan on Oct. 12, when the author will host "Karen Kingsbury Live"--a special hour-long event at 5 p.m. PST, to be streamed at KarenKingsbury.com/Live.

Besides demonstrating the "head, heart and hands" for the autistic community, the event will provide special behind-the-scenes insight into the writing of the book, and Kingsbury's personal connection to the disease through family and friends who inspired Unlocked, Zondervan officials said.

Kingsbury will be joined by Rob and Ingrid Williams, parents of autistic twins Carrie and Mitchell Thatcher--the family who inspired the story for the novel. Additionally, Melinda Chapman, an autism expert, will also take part in Kingsbury's first Webcast.

In Unlocked, Kingsbury addresses autism as well as high school bullying and self-esteem through the character of Holden Harris, an autistic 18-year-old who is bullied at school.

The event will be free, with an opportunity to donate to Autism Speaks, which seeks to increase awareness and fund research for autism. Click here for more information on Unlocked.
