The four-CD, Focus on the Family Radio Theatre version of C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters was nominated in the Audio Drama category of the 2010 Audies, announced earlier this week.

Released in October, the audiobook adaptation of Lewis' 1942 classic features Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in the "Lord of the Rings" movies, as narrator. Lewis' stepson, Douglas Gresham, hosts the production, which was recorded in London with a world-class cast and original music.

Besides The Screwtape Letters, the other finalists in the category are Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens, narrated by Sir Ian McKellan and a full cast (BBC Audiobooks America); The Word of Promise Audio Bible (Thomas Nelson); The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett, narrated by Michael Madsen, Sandra Oh and Edward Herrmann (Blackstone Audio); and The Rivalry by Norman Corwin, narrated by Paul Giamatti, James Gleason, Lily Rabe, David Strathairn and Shannon Cochran (L.A. Theatre Works).

In the Package Design category, The Word of Promise Audio Bible goes head to head with The J.R.R. Tolkien Collection by J.R.R. Tolkien, narrated by a full cast (BBC Audiobooks America); The Lincoln-Douglas Debates by Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas, narrated by David Strathairn and Richard Dreyfuss (BBC Audiobooks America); The Planet Mars and Its Inhabitants by Eros Urides, narrated by Peter Jahns (CoolBeat Audiobooks); and Tokyo Realtime: Kabukicho by Max Hodges, narrated by Max Hodges (White Rabbit Press).

Awarding excellence in 30 categories of audio publishing, the Audio Publishers Association's Audies will be announced May 25 at the Museum of the City of New York in New York City. Click here for a complete list of finalists.
