Nelson's ‘Word of Promise’ receives Audies nods Print Email

Thomas Nelson's Word of Promise Audio Bible has received four nominations--including in the Audio Drama and Package Design categories--in the 2010 Audies, announced today by the Audio Publishers Association.

Released in September, the follow-up to The Word of Promise New Testament Audio Bible includes the full text of the Bible with dramatic performances by well-known Hollywood actors such as Richard Dreyfuss, Gary Sinise, Jason Alexander and Jon Voight.

Besides Word of Promise Audio Bible, other finalists in the Inspirational/Faith-Based Non-Fiction category include The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom (Barbour Publishing), narrated by Bernadette Dunne (Christianaudio); Lord of the Ringless by Dee Aspin (Xulon Press), narrated by Julie Williams (Voice-over.com); The Secret Holocaust Diaries by Nonna Bannister with Denise George and Carolyn Tomlin (Tyndale House Publishers ), narrated by Rebecca Gallagher (Oasis Audio): and What Southern Women Know About Faith by Ronda Rich, narrated by Ronda Rich (Zondervan).

In the Multi-Voiced Performance category, Word of Promise Audio Bible goes head to head with two versions of the Penguin Classics title The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, one by BBC Audiobooks America and the other by Blackstone Audio, both narrated by a full cast; Nelson Mandela's Favorite African Folktales, edited by Nelson Mandela (W.W. Norton & Co.), narrated by a celebrity multi-voice cast (Hachette Audio); and The Rivalry by Norman Corwin, narrated by Paul Giamatti, James Gleason, Lily Rabe, David Strathairn and Shannon Cochran (L.A. Theatre Works).

In Inspirational/Faith-Based Fiction, the finalists are: Double Minds by Terri Blackstock (Zondervan), narrated by Cassandra Campbell, (Zondervan); Kiss by Ted Dekker and Erin Healy (Thomas Nelson), narrated by Pam Turlow (Oasis Audio); A Month of Summer by Lisa Wingate (NAL), narrated by Johanna Parker (Recorded Books); The Shape of Mercy by Susan Meissner (WaterBrook Press), narrated by Tavia Gilbert (Christianaudio); and The Tempest Tales by Walter Mosley (Washington Square Press), narrated by Ty Jones (Recorded Books).
