Several Christian retailers are taking part in National Bookstore Day, sponsored by Publishers Weekly and scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7.

Among them is Kregel Parable Christian Store in Grand Rapids, Mich., where President Jim Kregel said that he felt it was important to support all efforts to promote local bookselling, whether specifically Christian or not.

"If local bookselling goes away, we all lose, because we will lose something of the heart of the community," he said. "There has to be a balance between big boxes, the Internet and local bookstores. I know the impact local stores make on the lives of individuals, whether general or Christian."

Also listed among the 100-plus participating locations are Christian book outlets in Arkansas and Missouri, and Betterway Christian Books & Gifts in Stockbridge, Ga.
