Speaking Louder Than Before by Jeremy Camp (BEC Recordings/EMI CMG Distribution) supplanted Until the While World Hears by Casting Crowns (Beach Street Records/Provident-Integrity Distribution) for the top spot of the SoundScan's Christian/Gospel music Christian retail chart for sales the week ending Jan. 10, while Perfect Stranger and Another Perfect Stranger: The Director's Double Feature (Kelly's Filmworks/EMI CMG Distribution) remained atop the Christian Videos list.

Consumers’ behavior toward e-books Print Email

A new survey from the Book Industry Study Group (BISG) reveals how print book buyers access, purchase and use e-books and e-readers.

The first of three BISG surveys to be released this year, the study found that the majority of print book buyers ranked "affordability"as the top reason they would choose to purchase an e-book rather than a print book of the same title.

Hezekiah Walker dominates Stellar Awards Print Email

Verity Records artist Hezekiah Walker and his Love Fellowship Choir took home five Stellar Awards at the weekend, garnering trophies in the Artist of the Year, Contemporary CD, CD of the Year, Contemporary Choir of the Year and Choir of the Year categories.

Walker and his Brooklyn, N.Y.-based choir were recognized during the 25th Annual Stellar Awards, which celebrated the achievements of African-American artists in gospel music at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Jan. 16.

Thomas Nelson’s Christian market share grows Print Email

Thomas Nelson remains the top Christian book publisher in terms of revenue, and its evangelical market share grew from 29.3% to 32.6% in 2009, according to the Nashville-based publisher's market share reports of the top 10 U.S. book publishers.

On a recent blog entry, Thomas Nelson CEO Michael Hyatt revealed data from the company's two top 10 lists of leading trade and Christian publishers. Based on revenues for the 12 months ending Dec. 31, the lists were created from a proprietary database developed by Nelson and derived from various point-of-sale (P.O.S.) systems from multiple sales channels.

Christian products industry mobilizes relief help Print Email

Several segments of the Christian product industry are mobilizing relief help to disaster victims in Haiti, which was struck Jan. 12 by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake, causing thousands of casualties.

Biblica, holder of the New International Version copyright, has partnered with Compassion International, Trans World Radio and the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team to provide Bibles in conjunction with providing relief supplies. "God's Word is critical for spiritual strength, just as water, food and shelter provide physical strength in the midst of tragedy," Biblica President CEO Doug Lockhart said in an e-mail to supporters. "Please give now to provide Scriptures for the people of Haiti."

'A Greater Yes' in Christian retail Print Email

A Greater Yes: The True Story of Amy Newhouse was recently released on DVD by Pure Flix Entertainment, and distributed to Christian retail by EMI CMG Distribution.

Released Dec. 15, the movie stars Anne Underwood as Newhouse, a teen who was diagnosed with cancer in the late 1990s. A Greater Yes explores the impact of her life and death in her community. The film was shot entirely on location in Amarillo and Pampa, Texas.
