‘Thirsty’ named Theme Bible Study of the Year Print Email

Thirsty: Meeting Jesus at Your Deepest Need (NavPress) by Amy Nappa has been named the 2010 Theme Bible Study of the Year by the Assemblies of God (AG) denomination's national women's department.

As a result, thousands of AG churches nationwide will be using the book as the primary women's Bible study next year. "I'm humbled to find my book honored in this way," said Nappa after speaking at the AG national convention earlier this month in Orlando, Fla. "Assemblies of God women are wonderful people, and I'm grateful to be able to make a small contribution to their ministries through Thirsty."

Social media campaign for Lucado’s ‘Fearless’ Print Email

Thomas Nelson has launched a multifaceted social media campaign to promote the release of popular author Max Lucado's newest book.

The company is utilizing the influence of its online "friends" and "followers" to help spread the word about Fearless: Imagine Your Life Without Fear, to be released Sept. 8.

Children’s author honored with literature award Print Email

Dandi Daley Mackall, author of the "Winnie the Horse Gentler" and the "Starlight Animal Rescue" series as well as other juvenile fiction from Tyndale House Publishers, recently received the Helen Keating Ott Award from the Church & Synagogue Library Association (CSLA).

During the association's annual conference held last month in Canton, Ohio, Mackall was honored for her significant contribution in promoting high moral and ethical values through children's literature. In presenting the award, CSLA awards chairperson Jeri Baker noted that Mackall was "specifically sensitive to the challenges experienced by special-needs children and to the plight of the economically depressed."

‘Very positive’ response to virtual show Print Email

Response has been "very positive" to a major new industry initiative launched by Christian Retailing magazine.

Hosted by the publication, the Virtual Christian Retailing Show features 25 exhibitors, presenting products and extending some special offers to buyers. Since it was launched July 20, the Web-based event has attracted more than 3,300 visits--including 2,000 visitors--from 59 countries.

Standard Publishing's show specials to Christian retailers are being featured in the Virtual Christian Retailing Show.

Hosted by Christian Retailing magazine, the Web-based event features 25 exhibitors that participated in last month's International Christian Retail Show in Denver, presenting products and extending some special offers to buyers. Since it was launched July 20, the virtual show has attracted more than 2,800 visits from 52 countries.

CBA has been developing a series of business solutions to help Christian retail stores cope with what association head Bill Anderson calls the "massive change" in the industry.

The president and CEO of the retailers group outlines the new services in his latest exclusive online Christian Retailing column at the magazine's Web site. The initiatives are driven by the organization's commitment to providing "Real Help for Your Business," the theme for this year's International Christian Retail Show (ICRS).

The Berenstain Bears and the Golden Rule--created by Stan and Jan Berenstain with Mike Berenstain--has been recognized with a 2009 iParenting Media Awards Outstanding Product in the book category.

Published by Zonderkidz, Zondervan's children's division, the book is a Berenstain Bears "Living Lights" title--the first four of which sold nearly 500,000 copies in total.
