Band Angels marks sales milestone

Family start-up company Band Angels has sold 1 million of its "healing scripture bandages for kids" in about seven months' time. Owners Tim and Tami West offer the bandages with healing-related Bible verses on them as a Christian alternative to cartoon band-aids.

"Band Angels provide children with hope, inspiration, spirituality and reinforced scripture learning," said Tim West, company president. "They are just as fun as cartoon bandages, but with a higher meaning."

Emkay announces layoffs, reduces product offerings

Syracuse, N.Y.-based candle maker Muench-Kreuzer Candle Co., also known as Emkay, announced earlier this month it would lay off a number of employees and reduce its product offerings.

Emkay employs fewer than 50 people, many who will lose their jobs in the next 90 days.

Former Magi Marketing general sales manager dies

Charles N. Putt, a retired general sales manager for Magi Marketing, died May 18 at his home in Tampa, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, three children and six grandchildren.

"Charlie was a hard worker, and he was dedicated to Magi," said David Durham, owner and president of the company. Marjorie, who was a secretary and retired at the same time as her husband, was also a "real asset," Durham added.

Magi Marketing represents several Christian gift vendors, including Art From Heaven, Dexsa and Christian Art Gifts.

Brownlow introduces new Christmas collection

Brownlow is releasing its "Noelle" collection this summer for the upcoming Christmas season. Based on its best-selling "Meet the Girls!" collections, each Noelle product proclaims that "Jesus-is the best gift of all!"

The collection, which features stationery and gourmet products, comes in a bright red design with large, white polka dots and a lime green houndstooth accent.
