Several Christian publishers, including David C Cook, R.H Boyd Publishing, Our Sunday Visitor, Abingdon Press and Worthy Publishing, have selected Ingram Content Group's (ICG) CoreSource products for the distribution, sales and management of e-books.

"The audience for digital books continues to grow," said Byron Williamson, CEO, president and publisher of Worthy Publishing. "With Ingram's proven CoreSource platform driving the distribution of our digital content, we have a comprehensive solution to reach more readers worldwide and make the most of our Christian and mainstream best-selling content in the formats that are in demand today."

David C Cook Director of Digital Content Michael Covington added: "Ingram's extensive network of retailers is a hand-in-glove fit for our distribution strategy, allowing us to expand both our domestic and global reach as we work to fulfill our mission of equipping the church with Christ-centered resources around the world."

"Distribution via CoreSource allows us to serve an expanding network of e-book retailers domestically, many of whom have been valued print book partners for many years, as well as international markets that truly allow us to go to 'the ends of the earth' with our content."

The latest publishers to select CoreSource join Thomas Nelson, Scripture Union and others, which are already using the Ingram platform for digital asset management and fulfillment from the companies' own websites.

"We are pleased to expand our work with Ingram, adding an important e-book distribution component alongside our use of Lightning Source print-on-demand," said Tammy Gaines, vice president of Abingdon Press. "Through our collaboration with Ingram, we leave the complexity of on-demand and digital distribution to the expert, while we focus our time and resources on creating the finest content for our readers."

CoreSource is touted as "an easy-to-use, online solution for the storage, management and distribution of digital content." ICG's Lightning Source is the leading provider of comprehensive print-on-demand and distribution services to publishers worldwide.

"Ingram continues to invest in the newest digital distribution solutions to support our customers and make their entry into the digital marketplace easier," said Marcus Woodburn, vice president of digital products for ICG.

Wednesday, 23 May 2012 08:37 AM EDT

Courageous, the best-selling DVD of all in the country in its first week of release in January, has sold more than a million copies.

The faith-based cop drama is from church-based Sherwood Pictures, makers of the hit marriage drama Fireproof. "Like its predecessor Fireproof, Courageous has driven over a million units in sales in the first 90 days of release," Randy Davis, vice president of sales and marketing for Provident, told Christian Retailing. "We are thankful for the partnership with CBA retailers supporting these great films and impacting their communities with these messages of hope, restoration and redemption.

Courageous has performed well at many Christian stores, which had offered a variety of pre-buy special offers for as low as $14.97 on the recommended $24.99 price. The Exclusive Collector's Edition for Christian stores includes more than an hour of extra content not available in the general market version.

With a production budget of around $2 million, Courageous made $34.5 million in theaters last fall, while debuting at No. 4 in the box office, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.

Memorial Day sales to be biggest ever, says retail expert PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 22 May 2012 08:49 AM EDT

Memorial Day weekend sales are expected to be biggest ever, according to two surveys by America's Research Group (ARG).

Britt Beemer, chairman and founder of ARG, known for his Christian retail channel studies, estimated that shopping levels will exceed 35% compared to 2011.

"Spending levels will depend on the sale offers and the discounts when shoppers get into the stores," he said. "Those retailers who offer early-bird specials and open early on Memorial Day—yes, a la Black Friday—will see the best sales and the highest spending levels. The closer you come to creating Black Friday, the better your sales will be."

Two ARG surveys in late March and late April found that the number of Americans delaying their shopping to Memorial Day weekend is at an all-time high. Just over 6% of shoppers in March and 21% in April reported that they are delaying their shopping plans until Memorial Day weekend. A year ago, less than 3% of shoppers in March and only 11% of shoppers in April waited until Memorial Day.

"For the first time, Memorial Day weekend is scheduled to be the biggest in our 33-year survey history," Beemer said.
