Enesco division introduces Easter collectibles and garden products

Gregg-flowerpotsGregg Gift Co., a division of Enesco, is introducing a selection of Easter collectibles in its "Legacy of Love" brand, inspired by the eternal love of God and designed by renowned artist Kim Lawrence.

Consisting of six sculpted-stone, resin pieces, this new collection is designed to serve as a reminder of Christ's resurrection. The centerpiece of the collection is a 9.5-inch tall Cross figurine (0-45544-29072-2) proclaiming the message from Luke 24:34. Incorporating symbols of Christ's sacrifice and ascension to heaven, the figurine has 360-degree detailing and inlaid crystal accents. It retails for $25.

Other items include a wall cross, a tabletop centerpiece depicting Christ's ascension and three Easter ornaments. Gregg is also releasing three new "Legacy of Love" figurines that focus on family, fatherly love and unconditional love.

The "Legacy of Love" brand has décor-neutral color palettes and incorporates hints of stone and metal in the sculpting and painting.

Introduced in January 2008, "Legacy of Love" started as a celebration of Christmas. With strong support from retailers, an everyday line quickly followed in the spring. With a fall launch, the new products will be available for February delivery.

Also debuting this season is Gregg's first foray into functional garden merchandise. The garden accessories, available to ship in December and January, are designed to bring the inspiration and beauty of the Scriptures to indoor and outdoor spaces.

As part of Gregg's "In God's Garden" brand, the "Grow with Love" collection includes a three-piece planter set (0-45544-26606-2). The set includes two small herb planters and a water-collecting tray and has a suggested retail price of $14.99.

An art style reminiscent of stained glass was used to capture an image of nesting birds. This scene is accompanied by the sentiment, "All things grow with love" and a reference to Eph. 3:17.

Products include planters, bird feeders and houses, suncatchers, wind chimes, garden banners and heavy-duty garden aprons. Retail price points range from $9.99 to $24.99.

Gregg also offers a prepack containing 56 pieces of these items and a free floor-display (0-45544-26761-8).

These products are available by calling Gregg at 800-447-3440, faxing 800-453-0936 or by visiting www.gregggiftcompany.com or www.enesco.com. All Enesco products can be viewed at www.enesco.com/business.

The message of Don Piper's best-selling book about being brought back to life after dying and going to heaven has been adapted for a seven-week DVD Bible study series just released by Worthy Resources, part of Worthy Media.

90Minutes_DVDAt the heart of 90 Minutes in Heaven: Seeing Life's Troubles in a Whole New Light (978-1-936-03400-0) are seven 20-minute presentations featuring Piper, whose Revell (Baker Publishing Group) book has sold more than 3.5 million copies and been on best-seller charts for nearly three years.

"With so many people having bought the book, we believe that there is a deep and growing interest in all things related to heaven and the life hereafter—among both Christians and seekers," said Byron Williamson, president & CEO of Worthy Media.

"The turmoil that comes from economic convulsions, medical crises, terrorist threats, natural disasters, political unrest and burdens from grief are there to remind us that this earth is not our home," he added.

An ordained pastor who now travels widely to share the testimony of his 1989 auto accident and the lessons he has learned, Piper was filmed for the series at a church in Franklin, Tenn., earlier this year.

The $199.99 curriculum package includes four discs with the video presentations, a member's workbook, leader's guide and audio recordings for use in preparation by group leaders. In addition, an interactive DVD includes video trailers, posters, bulletin inserts and other promotional material. Additional member's workbooks are $12.99 each.

Role-reversal for Rebecca St. James in first leading part, as 'Sarah'

Pure-Flix_Sarahs-Choice_DVDAs a high-profile champion of abstinence, Rebecca St. James may surprise some of her fans with her first starring movie role—as a pregnant single woman contemplating abortion.

But for the award-winning singer and author, the pro-life message of Sarah's Choice (8-93261-00184-4, $19.99, Pure Flix Entertainment) goes "hand in hand" with the purity stand she has made through her songs and books. "God impassioned my heart for this project," St. James said of the DVD that released Nov. 6.

The 88-minute drama that follows up-and-coming advertising executive Sarah Collins' grappling with a life-and-death decision earned a standing ovation when it was screened for a national gathering of crisis pregnancy centers.

Though St. James has appeared in other films, playing Sarah was her first "daunting" lead part. One of the most dramatic scenes was shot on just the second day of filming, drawing real tears as she cried out to God for help to bring "authenticity" to the scene.

The production provided a personal bonus as well as promoting issues close to her heart. Sarah's screen sister Denise was portrayed by Staci Keanan, whom St. James had enjoyed watching when the actress appeared on Step By Step. "It was an honor to work with her," said St. James.

A Christmas motif runs through the film, with Sarah challenged by three Dickens-like visitations, finally making up her mind as the holiday arrives.

Other cast members include comedian Brad Stine, as an older man passing on words of wisdom to Sarah's boyfriend, veteran actor Dick Van Patten and actress Charlene Tilton from TV's legendary Dallas.

In addition to a strong pro-life message, the story line also offers hope of healing to women who have had an abortion. "There's a very redemptive focus," said St. James. "It is full of grace moments."

St. James wrote a song, "Little One," that plays during the final scene and end credits and which may appear on her next album.

New Noah retelling remains 'true to text' with humor and rhyme

NoahsFloatingParkThough the account of Noah's Ark has been presented time and again in numerous styles and formats, Master Books believes it has a fresh perspective on the familiar subject in Noah's Floating Animal Park (978-0-890-51576-1, $9.99), released last month.

Author Janine Suter teamed with illustrator Richard Gunther to present a more realistic ark than often depicted and to highlight scriptural points many times overlooked. Using vivid colors and illustrations, the book combines humor and rhyme to help kids understand the Flood and the global impact we still see today.

Suter, who refers to her writing as "Dr. Seuss meets Henry Morris," said she was pleased to be able to share foundational truths in a new way. "I really wrote these books to show that it could be done. … God's truth can be presented in a popular 'storybook' style without being untrue to the text," she said.

The book is one of three in an apologetics series by Suter with Master Books—an imprint of New Leaf Publishing Group—this fall. Its companion titles are The Not-So Super Skyscraper and The Day the World Went Wacky, which tell of the Tower of Babel and the Garden of Eden.

New Leaf President Tim Dudley said that in considering new titles, one of the first questions for a publisher must be, "Can we find a market for this material, especially if it is a topic that has been dealt with before?"

With New Leaf having produced many other books on Noah, there was also the issue of: "What makes this product stand out from the others that have been done previously? If you can't answer that question, then maybe the market doesn't need it. If you see something special in the content or unusual in the presentation, then the project is definitely one to consider."

For Dudley, the standouts of Suter's new book were "illustrations that all ages can enjoy, as well as making the biblical truth easy to relate to and very creatively presented, including a great explanation of animal kinds that every child can understand."

To order Noah's Floating Animal Park, call New Leaf at 800-999-3777 or go to www.masterbooks.net.
