BrandyVallance-webBrandy Vallance won the 2014 Operation First Novel contest at the Writing for the Soul Conference, held Feb. 13-16. As the winner, Vallance received a $20,000 check, and her novel, The Covered Deep, will be published by Worthy Publishing.

A member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), Vallance is a graduate of the Apprentice course run by the Jerry B. Jenkins Christian Writers Guild, which also hosted the conference at The Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs, Colo. The book had previously won in the Historical category of ACFW’s Genesis Contest.

The book was chosen as the winner from five finalists selected by Worthy’s editorial team.

When the announcement was made, Worthy presented a mockup of the cover for The Covered Deep. The book will be released in 2015.
