AbsolutelyGospelAbsolutelyGospel.com announced today the nominees for the 2014 Absolutely Gospel Music Awards. As in years past, the nominees were chosen by the staff of AbsolutelyGospel.com and select media representatives. Starting Feb. 1, fans will get a chance to vote for their favorites in certain categories.

“Our awards program isn’t always about representing the most popular, but rather the songs, albums and artists that made a splash in an artistic way,” said Chris D. Unthank, editor-in-chief of AbsolutelyGospel.com. “We are proud of this year’s crop of nominees.”

The Isaacs and the Bowling Family are tied for the most nominations this year, with each earning 10.

The Isaacs’ nominations include Album of the Year for The Living Years (Gaither Music Group/Capitol Christian Distribution), Mixed Group of the Year, Best Live Performer, and Country Song of the Year for “Walk Together Children”, while group members also received nods for Producer of the Year (Ben Isaacs), Songwriter of the Year (Becky & Sonya Isaacs) and Female Vocalist of the Year and Musician of the Year (both Becky Isaacs Bowman).

Meanwhile, the Bowling Family received nominations for Song of the Year (“Somebody’s Believing”), Album of the Year (Safe…After the Storm (RiverHill Music Group), Mixed Group of the Year and Country Song of the Year (“I’ll Be Alright as Soon as I Touch Calvary”), among others. Group members also received individual nominations, including Male Vocalist of the Year (Mike Bowling), Female Vocalist of the Year (Kelly Bowling) and Engineer of the Year (Troy Peach).

Other artists receiving multiple nominations include Karen Peck & New River (nine nominations, including Album of the Year for Revival (Daywind Records/Word Distribution) and Song of the Year for “Revival”), the Collingsworth Family, Tribute Quartet, the Freemans and the Booth Brothers.

For the fifth consecutive year, songwriter, producer and Signature Sound pianist Wayne Haun earned the most individual nominations. Haun’s 14 nominations include Producer of the Year (Artist) as well as five of the 10 nominees for Album of the Year.

Two-time Songwriter of the Year (Professional) winner Kenna West also earned nine nominations for her songwriting work in 2013, including four Song of the Year mentions.

The Absolutely Gospel Music Awards Celebration will be held April 15 at the River of Life Church in Smyrna, Tenn. For the full list of nominees, click here.
