Demdaco has announced the new license of artist and world-renowned naturalist Marjolein Bastin, beginning with the January release of “Nature’s Journey,” which includes five new collections of gifts and home accents with more than 150 items. It is Demdaco’s largest release ever, even surpassing the number of pieces included in its popular  “Willow Tree” launch by artist Susan Lordi.

A Hallmark designer discovered Marjolein’s artwork while on a trip to Holland in the early 1990s, initiating a relationship that has spanned nearly 20 years. Today, stationery, greeting cards, home décor items and gifts in Hallmark’s “Nature’s Sketchbook by Marjolein Bastin” line are among the company’s best-selling offerings.

“Nature’s Journey” features a current twist on Bastin’s classic and beloved designs. This new product line features a new approach to elegant florals, a sophisticated damask collection, garden accessories, as well as holiday serveware and traditional everyday home accents.

At press time, much of the line was still being created, but a sneak peak included a peony black frame that holds a 4-by-6-inch photo and retails for $26 and a set of three floral/black candle tins that retails for $24. The scent is wildflower, and the candle burns 22 hours. While no Scripture verses will be included on the products in the initial rollout, many pieces include inspirational sentiments related to nature.

Due to Bastin’s artistic contribution to her homeland, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands honored her as a Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion.
