What He’s Really Thinking by Paula Rinehart offers thoughtful and spiritually rich teachings on women, men and their relationships. While the title claims the book to be a how-to guide on becoming a relational genius with men, Rinehart’s larger point is that all relationships are opportunities to experience deeper intimacy with God.

In understanding the fundamental differences between men and women from a psychological and spiritual perspective, women can more easily and adequately love and respect the men in their lives. Without assuming that all men are the same, many of the same principles of communication and understanding can apply to how women approach relationships with their husbands, sons and brothers. Rinehart addresses conflict in relationships with a refreshing approach and reminds readers that redemption can be found even in imperfect circumstances.

Though books on relationships can run together, this one stands out as being more open for application and less prescriptive than most. The study questions, along with the generality of topics covered, would make this an accessible study for small groups as well as individuals.
