Breathe-fiction novelIn Breathe, the first book in Bergren's “The Homeward Trilogy," publisher Clarence St. Clair sends his son Dominic and two daughters on a train from Philadelphia to Colorado in order to find a better life.
Dominic carries the weight of the world on his shoulders as it is left up to him to make sure both his sisters arrive safely in a new environment where opportunity abounds and a cure for his deathly ill sister Odessa awaits.

The adventure proves harrowing for the trio. Odessa receives a puzzling poem that leads to a treasure, discovers foul play in mysterious deaths of two patients and becomes a target herself. Moira flirts her way to success and freedom, only to find herself trapped in a web of manipulation. Dominic longs for a life outside of the family business and struggles with his own anger over the responsibilities he carries.

Breathe is a delightfully suspense-filled romance placed in 19th century Colorado, a wonderful read for anyone who loves to peek into the past and enjoys adventure.
