California pastor Francis Chan challenges Christians to live out their faith with radical abandon in Loco amor: Asombrado por un Dios incesante ( Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God, 978-1-599-79551-5, $9.99), released this month by Casa Creación.

The English edition has been a top seller for David C. Cook, from which the translation has been licensed, since its May 2008 release.

The teaching pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley, Calif., Chan shares his own life struggles and sacrifices in attempting to live devoted to Christ, selling his 2,000-plus-square-foot house for a smaller home and giving away resources to the poor. His example has been embraced by members of his congregation, which has become known for its extravagant giving.

“I believe He wants us to love others so much that we go to extremes to help them,” said Chan, who is also the president of Eternity Bible College and serves on the boards of Children’s Hunger Fund and World Impact. “I believe He wants us to be known for our giving—of our time, our money and our abilities—and to start a movement of ‘giving’ churches.

“In doing so we can alleviate the suffering in the world and change the reputation of His bride in America.”

Loco amor, written with Danae Yankoski, also tells stories of others who have taken Chan’s challenge. The book is to be promoted with targeted advertising that includes the brochure for this month’s Expolit convention.
