ICRS: Jerry Jenkins honored at Golden Scroll Awards |

Jerry B. Jenkins took home the Lifetime Achievement Award Sunday afternoon at the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA) 2014 Golden Scroll Awards, presented at ICRS. Jenkins, who keynoted the event, received a standing ovation and said he was honored and humbled by the recognition. Golden Scroll publisher awards went to Abingdon Press for Publisher of the Year, and Tyndale House editors Katara Patton for Nonfiction Editor of the Year and Stephanie Boene for Fiction Editor of the Year. In the Nonfiction Book of the Year category, Wounded Women of the Bible by Dena Dyer and Tina Samples (Kregel Publications) and Unexpected Love by Julie Zine Coleman (Thomas Nelson) tied for first place. Cynthia Ruchti picked up second place for Ragged Hope (Abingdon Press), and Emily Parke Chase took home the third place award for Standing Tall After Falling Short (Wingspread Publications). In the Fiction category, Eva Marie Everson’s Slow Moon Rising: A Cedar Key Novel (Revell/Baker Publishing Group) tied for first place Novel of the Year with C.W. Shutter’s The Ohana (River Ranch Publishing). Sarah Sundin received second place for On Distant Shores (Revell/Baker Publishing Group), and DiAnn Mills picked up third place for The Survivor (Zondervan). The Christian Authors Network (CAN) also presented fiction and nonfiction awards during the afternoon banquet. The CAN Nonfiction Book of the Year first place award went to Kathy Collard Miller for Partly Cloudy with Scattered Worries (Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas). Cecil Murphey and Twila Belk received second place for I Believe in Heaven (Regal), and Dianne Barker took home third place for I Don’t Chase the GarbageTruck Down the Street in My Bathrobe Anymore (self-published). Ruchti picked up her second award of the day as the CAN Novel of the Year first place award winner for All My Belongings (Abingdon Press). Sarah Sundin also received a second award as she took second place with On Distant Shores (Revell/Baker Publishing Group), while Lena Nelson Dooley received third place for Catherine’s Pursuit (Realms/Charisma House). AWSA also recognized Arlene Pellicane as Member of the Year, and best-selling author Kathi Macias presented the “Beyond Me” award to Grace Fox for exemplifying the heart of Christ through her missions trips and outreach to others. |
